The Great Depression was the worst economic period in America in history. It happened from 1929-1933.It began after the stock market crash of October 1929, which sent Wall Street into a panic and wiped out millions of investors. Over the next years consumer spending and investing dropped which caused failing companies and major unemployment issues. The Great Depression unemployment was an all time high with 15 million Americans unemployed, also with half of the banks in America failing. Many Americans' credi card debt kept falling deeper and deeper into debt which was the cause of half of the USA’s banks to fail.
For my English project I used the research that I have conducted to create and synthesis the perspective of citizens experiencing the depression and the pandemic. I created fictional characters using what research I conducted on how people lived in cities and business owners.
For my social studies project I synthesized the Covid pandemic and the Great Depression. I talked about how both of these effected the perspective of finance. I also talked about what caused these terrible events to happen and how they could have been prevented.
